It’s an honour for me to have been evaluated so highly (even though I think I made mistakes in the show I created!)
Participating in this show felt quite a challenge, as I was heavily constrained by time, and I did not have many stutata/bombe da tiro to feel confident enough to participate. After all, to create this in FWsim in a way I like, it takes a lot of time and patience (if shells of shells had controlled gravity or inherited from the main launch and possibilities of staggering the explosions, it would be much, much easier!)
Another challenge I imposed on myself was to make as less new fireworks as possible and use what I already had in inventory - the Simulation Fireworks Association’s archive - just as a pyrotechnician show designer would do in real life. If there are not “3-stage ghost shell red to purple to orange” in inventory, you need to find something else. (Even though I hope that we will be able to make such shells directly in FWsim without using external tools in the future!)
Again, it’s been an honour to receive such praise for the show. But there’s still a lot of work to do to make the show look more realistic - and avoid dumb mistakes like I did, with strobing blue mines, that shouldn’t be possible to achieve in reality, aside from maybe some work by Marugo -
I will work continuously to improve the quality and the realism of future shows and the collection of fireworks. It will not be easy, and it takes a lot of research, time, a lot of fireworks viewing (both in reality, which is very difficult for me due to scarcity of fireworks show - and with videos)
Beautiful-you are very talented. I like the different patterns - like a song flowing well like musical notes. Oh you make smoke I see–I need to figure out how.
The championship will follow the following schedule:
-May 5th application closing
-May 9th shows publication
-May 17th awarding
The show format will be the following:
-the show will be a traditional show, no music allowed
-the duration has to be between 10 and 12 minutes long
-the location will be a real location (the stadium of Trecastagni (CT), were on the evening of May 9th takes place one of the most important fireworks festivals in Italy)
-the position setup will be standard for everyone
-the camera settings are free, you can use a standing camera or a moving one as well
-you have to publish the video on YouTube
and set a premiere at 9 pm (UTC+1) on May 9th.
You will be evaluated on the following categories:
-realism (max 25 PTs.)
-shells quality (max 25 PTs.)
-creativity (max 25 PTs.)
-singleshot sequences ( max 10 PTs.)
-colors choice and combination (max 10 PTs.)
-camera editing (max 5 PTs.)
By following the rules you can create the show you want, but since it is the Italian championship you are invited to create a show that follows the Italian tradition in the field of pyrotechnics. You are also invited to recreate and use effects from the Italian tradition (for example bombe da tiro)
For this reason:
-the show that follows the most the traditional Italian show style will have a 10 PTs. bonus
-every bomba da tiro reproduction (or every real effect reproduction in general) you will get 1 PT. for a maximum of 10 PTs.
HERE’S WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR IN THE RATING SYSTEM:
The participants themselves will rate their rivals’ performances. In addition to the ratings described above, which will be given by the organizers, competitors will be provided with a link to rate each competitor’s performance on a scale of 0 to 100.
The voting link will be provided on May 10th.
Each competitor must rate their performance at 100 points.
If the organizers deem a competitor’s scores to be too low and intended to favor themselves, the competitor will be DISQUALIFIED from the competition.
There will be 3 special awards:
one will be awarded to the show that follows the most the Italian tradition
one for the best finale (voted only by the competitors)
one for the best opening (voted only by the competitors)
